I know what you’re thinking.
Hypnotherapy?
To help with my divorce?
I know it can help to stop smoking but how on earth could it help me through my divorce?
Isn’t hypnosis a bit spiritual and ‘woo woo’?
A while ago I would have thought exactly the above, but then I discovered the amazing benefits. I wish I had known about them when I was going through my own divorce.
Hypnosis is a powerful way to connect to the subconscious mind to reprogram our thoughts, behaviours and actions.
By getting our conscious mind into a calm, relaxed state, we are able to bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious where we can reprogram what we want to change. It may be easier to discuss what hypnotherapy is not.
Clinical hypnotherapy is not what you see during stage hypnosis shows. It is not making you do anything you do not want to. It is simply a tool to support you reaching a place you want to get to faster, by working directly with your subconscious vs conscious mind.
You are fully in control when hypnotised and do not have to take on the therapist’s suggestions if you do not want. Hypnosis will not work if you do not want to be hypnotised.
Most people remember everything that was said during a hypnotherapy session, and you are not ‘unconscious’ at any point. It is merely a state of relaxation.
Hypnotherapy can help by leading you into a deeply relaxed state and then, using agreed methods, help towards your goals. For example, suggesting you do not want to carry out a certain habit. Divorce can cause so many issues that can be helped by hypnotherapy.
It can cause us to overthink in a spiral of anxiety; what could have been different? What would have happened if you had reacted this way instead of that way? If you have these, or other, limiting beliefs or overthinking behaviours it can take you so much longer to recover from your divorce.
Some examples that we might face when going through divorce that can be helped by hypnosis:
All of the above are perfectly normal reactions to going through divorce or separation but can certainly slow down the time it takes you to feel yourself again and move forward with your life.
Hypnotherapy can help with all the challenges above. Not only can it help you process your divorce more easily, but it can be an opportunity to kick start and help other areas of your life e.g. quitting smoking or losing weight.
Additionally, divorce can take a heavy toll on, not only our emotional wellbeing but on our physical body. Your subconscious can help heal your body, including weight loss, booting immunity and being more active.
Absolutely. Hypnotherapy can be just as effective online as in person.
It is possible to get results after just one session. It depends on the issue being faced and how ready the client is to let go of whatever is holding them back.
