About Katie

I read English at Brasenose College, Oxford, before completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, both with distinction, at The College of Law in London. I trained at the country’s number one firm for family law, Manches LLP in London, now Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP, before qualifying into their family department where I represented people dealing with all aspects of divorce, separation and children issues, often at moments of significant emotional and financial pressure. What became increasingly clear to me was that the traditional legal system does not always support people through separation in a calm, proportionate way. Solicitor-led processes are structured around formality, procedure and billable time, which often pushes matters towards escalation even when neither party wants conflict. I frequently found myself constrained by a system that left little room for emotional support or early resolution. While taking time away from full-time legal practice to raise my children, I continued to offer informal advice within my local network. Over time, it became clear that this kind of early, realistic, human support was exactly what many people needed often before involving solicitors at all.

In 2014, I set up my practice to offer exactly that. Today, I work with individuals and couples married and unmarried, from all walks of life and across the financial spectrum who are seeking clarity, practical guidance and support without immediately entering an adversarial legal process. I also assist many clients who are already involved in litigation and need help navigating the challenges that come with it. Drawing on my background and breadth of experience, I help clients understand what is legally realistic, identify opportunities to avoid conflict and work towards constructive, sustainable agreements. At the same time, I recognise that separation is not just a legal or financial process. It is also a deeply personal one. I support clients through the difficult conversations, boundary-setting and emotional pressures that often accompany relationship breakdown, helping them move forward with greater confidence and clarity. Alongside my professional experience, I’m also a wife and a mother to two children. I’ve experienced a demanding career, stepped away from it, and returned to work in a way that feels more meaningful. That combination, legal expertise, lived experience and a deep understanding of the pressures modern families face – shapes how I work with every client.

My approach is professional but informal, calm but clear-headed. The aim is always the same: to help people move forward with clarity, dignity, and as little conflict as possible.

Testimonials

Katie Alexiou was an extraordinary source of support throughout an incredibly stressful separation, and I genuinely cannot speak highly enough of her. What makes Katie so exceptional is not just her expertise, but the calm, clear and deeply human way she works. During an incredibly overwhelming time, she brought clarity, direction and reassurance. She helped navigate difficult decisions, understand the process ahead, and identify the right professionals when needed. More than that, Katie was a genuine source of support. Sitting at her kitchen table, I actually felt instant relief that I had found a compassionate ally and I was not alone finding a way through things. Through quite a long process it was an utter godsend to have her available to sense check events, draft comms, keep things rational, and steady the ship when everything felt so overwhelming. Her calm presence helped me believe there could be a way through and better times ahead. Katie was consistently responsive, dependable and supportive throughout and incredibly fair and transparent in her billing. In one of the hardest periods of our lives, Katie’s kindness, professionalism and wisdom have been a genuine lifeline. I cannot recommend her enough. J, Surrey

It is hard to over-emphasise the difference that Katie makes to the clients she works with. As a family mediator, I get to experience firsthand the transformative effect she has on her clients, giving them support, wise counsel and an honest appraisal of how they will best navigate what can feel like an impossibly bleak time. I have seen how she empowers those who are feeling disempowered and gives hope to those that feel a bit hopeless. She is eminently sensible but more importantly a highly compassionate coach. I wish there were more like her out there for people to use.  Family law mediator, London
