About Kirstie

I have specialised in Family Law for 25 years. Since 2004, when I was one of the first lawyers in the country to train collaboratively, my practice has very much been focused on trying to “keep it out of court”.

Collaborative law is a process which aims to avoid court and costly letters going to and fro between solicitors.

The couple and their lawyers sit round a table in a series of four-way meetings and try to come to solutions that work for the whole family. All sign a commitment not to go to court.

If the process breaks down, and either spouse wants to go to court, a notice has to be served terminating the process. I have never served or been served with such a notice. I am also a Law Society accredited mediator.

As part of my mediation practice, having completed the Resolution training, I see children.

I find this incredibly helpful because often hearing things from their children’s perspective encourages parents to put aside their differences and consider options taking  into account the children’s wishes and feelings.

The degree of involvement I have in cases is flexible. Some people want to represent themselves and have touch-line advice, so to speak, with me providing help and support as and when required.

Others like the reassurance of knowing that the correspondence will come to me and I will deal with everything, but obviously discuss each step with the client first.

Words are not enough to thank you for standing by my side in the most difficult time of my life. Your sense of humour and support (even past office hours!) kept me going last year. I don’t think I have ever met someone so efficient and professional.”

“Thank you SO much for all your help in helping the girls and I have a secure future together.”

“As ever from you Kirstie – predictably consistent. Good advice.  Thank you!”

“You have no idea how refreshing it is to deal with you!”
