About Sarah

As a French family lawyer and trained family mediator based in England, I’ve made it my mission to provide help and support to families navigating the challenges of separation, getting a divorce, or addressing child arrangements and finance matters. While I am qualified to advise on French family law, my true focus lies in mediation -helping couples resolve their issues constructively, and respectfully.

Why Mediation?

Mediation is at the heart of what I do because I have seen how transformative it can be for families. It’s a process that allows couples to sit down, communicate openly, and find practical solutions without the stress and cost of courtroom battles. As a neutral third party, I guide conversations, ensuring both voices are heard and respected, and help you work towards agreements that work for everyone - especially when children are involved.

Whether you’re dealing with child arrangements, financial matters, or navigating the emotional complexities of separation, mediation provides a safe and structured space to address these issues. It’s flexible, efficient, and often leads to solutions that are better for everyone in the long run, creative solutions tailored to your family’s unique needs.

It minimizes conflict and avoids the stress, cost, and unpredictability of court proceedings and helps preserve relationships - especially important for co-parenting.

What I Offer

Family Mediation
Mediation is my passion, and I bring a wealth of experience and understanding to every session. As a trained family mediator (through Resolution) and a member of the Family Mediation Council, I offer the following :

  • Bilingual Services: I mediate in both English and French, bridging cultural and linguistic gaps for families with diverse backgrounds.
  • Online Mediation: My sessions can be conducted online, meaning I can support couples anywhere.
  • MIAMs: I also offer the possibility to do Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings to help couples determine if mediation is the right choice for their situation.
  • Child-Focused Mediation: If children are involved, I help couples create parenting plans that prioritize their well-being and ensure stability.
  • Financial Mediation: I assist in resolving disputes about finances, property, and assets division, focusing on fair and practical solutions.

French Family Law Advice

As a French-qualified lawyer, I also advise on:

  • Separation and divorce under French law.
  • Cross-border matters, such as international prenuptial agreements and marital contracts, probates, and estate planning

Collaborative Law

In addition to mediation, I encourage the use of collaborative practice, where couples and their lawyers work together to resolve disputes amicably. They commit not to go court until they have found an agreement. It’s a supportive and cooperative process that helps families move forward with dignity.

Understanding the Pain of Separation

I know that separation or divorce isn’t just a legal process - it’s deeply personal and emotional. My role goes beyond guiding you through the practicalities; I’m here to support you as you navigate:

  • Your Children’s Needs: If you have children, ensuring their well-being is a priority. Mediation helps you create a cooperative parenting plan that gives them security and consistency, even as your family dynamic changes. Every family is unique, and I take the time to listen to your story, your priorities, and your goals. Together, we’ll find a way forward that feels right for you.
  • Your Own Challenges: Feelings of grief, uncertainty, or guilt can make this time overwhelming. I help you focus on long-term solutions that bring clarity and stability.

Advice for Separating Couples

If you're separating, I encourage you to

  • 1. Step Back and Reflect: Focus on your long-term goals for yourself and your family.
  • 2. Consider Mediation: It’s a constructive, respectful way to work through child arrangements, finances, and property matters.
  • 3. Stay Cooperative: Maintaining a cooperative relationship, especially if children are involved, is key to making this transition smoother for everyone.
  • 4. Think Practically About Finances: Fair and sustainable financial arrangements are essential for moving forward with confidence. Remember, you don’t have to face this alone. Whether it’s through mediation, collaborative law, or with the help of a coach or a counsellor, there is help available to guide you every step of the way.
