About Tracy

My legal career started in North Yorkshire in 2001. I specialised in Family Law and qualified as a solicitor. I have always seen my role as helping families move on, through a separation which can be a very difficult and stressful time. When I trained as a mediator with resolution in 2009, I knew I could help more families through mediation and this is what I wanted to do full time. I have achieved this personal goal of working solely in mediation.

I am a fully accredited member of the Family Mediation Council. My independent mediation service is Allison Family Mediation Services. We hold a contract with the Legal Aid Agency to provide free mediation to those that are eligible, throughout Leeds, Wakefield and Huddersfield. We offer a local mediation service through our main office and outreach offices which are conveniently situated in North, East, South and West Leeds. This is our commitment to promoting mediation and ensuring you do not have to travel far to access an effective and professional service.

In 2014, I trained as a Child Consultant so I could work with children in mediation. I have worked with children and parents through the Listening 2 Children matters project. This was a DWP Innovation funded project. I continue to give children a voice in some cases where parents agree this may be beneficial and help parents make informed decisions that take into account their children’s worries, thoughts and feelings.

I am also interested in how separation, abandonment, loss, adoption, anxiety and trauma can affect children. I have undertaken additional training in therapeutic parenting skills, theraplay, brain development and brief therapy solution focused techniques. I belief mediation is under used in working with families where Children’s Services are involved and I plan to continue to grow this area of mediation so we can assist more children and families within the care system.

Testimonial

‘‘I just wanted to take this opportunity of thanking you for assisting us with the mediation services over the past weeks. As you are aware, unfortunately our only issue for resolution was with regards to the financial aspect as oppose to a marital resolution and negotiations between us would have been extremely difficult without your assistance. Acting with integrity, honesty and impartiality you assisted us in opening discussions within the first meeting and agreeing on a settlement by the end of the second meeting and managed to retain civil discussions throughout the meeting at a very difficult and emotional time.’’
