About Shabana

I am the co-founder of Shortlands, a Specialist Family Law Firm, which since 2004 focuses and specialises in all aspects of family law. I regularly advise clients on divorce and separation, the division of matrimonial assets, cohabitation including prenuptial agreements, child and domestic violence issues.

I am an SRA-Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer and a member of Resolution. Especially when children are involved it is essential that we resolve all matters amicably, ensuring the children’s best interests remain the priority. My advice is always tailored to the individual needs of each client to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved.

I believe in adopting an approach which is not only sensitive and cost-effective but constructive with a view to reaching a settlement at an early stage of the case. I try and help separating parents and couples resolve their problems in a more amicable fashion. Mediation is a much less confrontational approach than litigation. It can also be quicker and, therefore, cheaper than going to court. People often benefit from legal advice alongside mediation to ensure that outcomes are right for them, and where necessary I also offer this supportive legal advice. If this fails or for some reason this is not the right avenue to follow, I believe in decisive Court Action that concludes the matter quickly. I am also an Honorary Legal Advisor at the High Court’s Principal Registry of the Family Division where I offer pro bono advice on a regular basis for those who qualify.
